This is my fifth grand opening. I've been to six stores. Click on my Tadd's Apple Store home for pix of other stores.
The attendance for this store opening was excellent especially considering that it was raining steadily until as late as 8:45 am. The store opened at 10:00 am on time.
My technical mistake for this store opening (there has to be one per store!) was to forget to set the clock on the camera for daylight savings time. Thus the pictures are all marked with a time that is one hour later than they should be.
apple store in strip mall
Tice's Corner is the location of what was an apple orchard last year. The mall sprang up (unaided?) since this spring.
The mall is located in Woodcliff Lake New Jersey in Bergan County New Jersey just south of the border from Rockland County New York.
The road that the mall is on runs parallel to the Garden State Parkway at the northernmost exit of the Parkway. (What Exit? #171 if you must ask). The mall is a 10 minute drive from the Palisades Center Mall where another Apple Store will be located. The mall is also 10 minutes north of Paramus which has 2 malls of its own and is the biggest shopping area in New Jersey (and probably on the entire East Coast).
The neighborhood around the mall is corporate, featuring the offices of BMW, Mercedes Benz, Hilton hotel, many health-care providers, Perillo Tours, Benjamin Moore Paints and other rather deluxe looking office buildings. The location is about 45 minutes from New York City in the posh end of a rather expensive county.
Other mall tenants include Pier 1, Bombay Company, Williams Sonoma, Anthropologie, Express, Victoria Secret, Platypus, Gap, Talbots, Bath and Body Works, Childrens Place, Panera, Pottery Barn.
store interior
I took these pictures before the store opened. The following page has thumbnails from during the line and after the store opened. I tried to focus on the people and less on the standard "stuff" since I already have photographed several other stores. I tried to photograph anything that was particularly different between the stores. The biggest deal is the ipod. See my pictures of West Farms for the first iPod spottings.
