Vinalhaven has many areas that are wilderness, park, preserve, or
just pretty. Some of the island industry and housing is also
worth looking at. I photographed some
of these places.
I shot the next two pix from the west side of the island, looking towards Rockland.

There is a retired rock quarry that is used as a swimming hole. It's VERY cold.

This lighthouse overlooks the entrance to the straight between North Haven and Vinalhaven, I think.

Here we're back on the harbor.

This photo is about a block from the harbor. I thought it interesting to note how
rocky these islands are.
Not far off of the harbor (opposite of the ferry dock) there is a preserve that people
like to picnic in or walk around well trodden trails.
The walk we took was around a peninsula in the preserve.

The next bunch of pictures is from our walk.

Here's your's truly with Jack riding on top.

Interesting how the native fauna can imitate artificial constructs we're used to.

It looks like some kids were building a boat! Or is this the wreck of the Minnow.

Here's Nancy and Jack.
bla bla bla.

This is a rather nice view. You can see a few houses dotting the landscape and
the harbor in the distance. The 2nd photo is from the same location but with
telephoto lens.

Here is my dad and Jack walking down the trail in front of me.
