This is the eighth store I've visited. I was several hours late for the grand opening because I chose to go to the Palisades Center Apple Store opening instead. My friend Matt shot pix of the line and of the door opening. I am enclosing his pictures and a few of mine here. Matt's server hosts 100s of megabytes of media for my pages of Apple Store pictures. The Rockingham Mall sits at exit 1 on one of the main north/south arteries between New Hampshire and Boston which lies about 35 miles to the south. Salem New Hampshire is a suburb of Boston and many residents commute from NH into Massachusetts. Salem also has an interesting roll in the Boston metro shopping community in that it is the site of the closest tax-free shopping mall to Boston. New Hampshire is a sales-tax free state. There are other malls in New Hampshire that probably would be nicer for an Apple Store in terms of clientell but none has the traffic volume that Rockingham boasts. The mall is only about 45 minutes from the North Shore Mall Apple Store.
On Saturday the 8th of December 2001 I started my day in New Jersey, seconds away from the Tice's Corner Apple Store. My family and I drove the 15 minutes to the Palisades store and stayed until after it opened, then we drove 3+ hours to Rockingham Mall to visit, collect a T-shirt or 3, and take some more photos. I filmed the oddysey and put the movie on the web here.
